Scandinavian Ergonomics for Style, Comfort, and Ease

A deep-rooted passion for designing environments tailored to meet diverse needs for living, working, and aging

Best Life Ergonomics was founded by Principal Ergonomist, Kristin Amlie. Kristin is passionate about improving the way people live and work and age in all environments. She brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in ergonomics, inclusive design, safety, and healthcare. Kristin’s specialty is in ergonomics, inclusive design, accessibility, aging, and assistive technology in homes, workplaces, and the community. Kristin has consulted with a wide variety of diverse clients at home and at work. This includes people working for places such as non-profits, private businesses, schools, laboratories, salons, customer service and retail, libraries, healthcare, public/government agencies, and more.

As a licensed physical therapist in Norway, Kristin started her career working with Universal Design and Design for All movements in Norway, working with patients, architects, and design professionals. Scandinavia has been on the leading edge of ergonomics and future-proofing designs to meet the needs of people of all ages and abilities. In Oslo, she managed a clinic for older adults, taught fall prevention, and made home and transportation modifications to help older adults and people with disabilities function at their best capacity.

Kristin manages and implements ergonomics for 25,000+ people for a major research, healthcare, and education organization in San Francisco. She has performed thousands of ergonomics evaluations and design assessments and reviews for all types of environments. Throughout her career, she has improved the health, safety, and well-being for a wide variety of people such as animators; researchers; gardeners, grounds, cleaning and warehouse workers, drivers; divers; machinists and trades personnel; stylists; healthcare workers; and surgeons. In addition to helping people of all ages who are in pain or who have disabilities, she is frequently asked to share her expertise with national and international audiences.

Recently, she consulted with a design firm on how to create inclusive living and working environments for future military personnel. Appointed to a federal advisory commission, she also represents the needs of older adults and people with disabilities in her community with a focus on inclusion, housing, home modifications, and aging at home, workplace, and in the community.
